The Coach and Horses - again!

Well, It's not often I mention the same place twice, but an amazing meal at the Coach and Horses in Newport,Essex, just deserves a mention!

We'd booked a meal for 4 last Saturday as a Christmas meet up with friends. Unfortunately Sam was ill so it just ended up the 3 of us.

Steve ordered the veggie Mezze, which is always a winner, but I asked for a Lucy Special!!!! Lucy, the fantastic chef, can always be relied upon to come up with an amazing vegan dish given a little notice, and she certainly didn't disappoint!!!

When my plate turned up, I couldn't believe the size of it! Even the people on the next table turned round for a look!

There was a bed of salad, with leaves, peppers and avocado, then 4 pieces of garlic bread, topped with two half peppers stuffed with spiced cous cous with onions and vegetables. Truly delicious, though I must admit, I had to call on Steve and Robbie to help me clear my plate!!!!!

Cambridge and Newport, Essex - A weekend eating Locally!

The last two weekends we've eaten out locally, and had quite a variety of meals!

Last Saturday we revisited an old favourite, Rainbow, in Cambridge. A friendly, family run vegetarian restaurant near Kings College, serving a vast array of vegetarian foods, with plenty of vegan and gluten free options available. The vegan cheesecake, as always, was a huge hit, served with vegan ice cream.

Then on Sunday we had a vegan Mezze at The Coach and Horses pub in Newport, Essex.

What an amazing feast of food was served up! We had a large bowl of salad, a platter of humous, pitta bread, olives, sun dried tomatoes, and a bowl of chips. It was a struggle to fit it all on the table! The chef Lucy, is always happy to cater for us, and cooks up some fantastic vegan delights as long as we let her know a day or so in advance.

This weekend we decided to do some Christmas shopping in Cambridge, and then visit La Tasca for some Spanish Tapas.

I visited their website and looked at the allergy advice menu in order to ascertain which meals were vegan. This made it so much easier to order once at the restaurant. We enjoyed garlic bread, spicy roasted vegetable cassola, Patatas bravas, and a superfood salad. A very tasty meal, and a good place to visit with non vegan friends as there is something for everyone.
